Tim Brabants

Tim Brabants

Keen for him to pursue an outdoor activity, Tim Brabant's mother took her "challenging and focused" son to a canoe course during his summer holidays. His talents were quickly spotted by the course organisers who urged him to think about pursuing the sport more seriously. This talent has led to a 25 year sprint kayaking career, during which Tim has won three Olympic medals and five world championship medals.

Tim has had to face many challenges, including coming back from an 18 month break from the sport in 2004 to recover from a serious pec tendon injury in 2011. But each time Tim has shown great self-belief and determination thriving on the personal challenge. Tim's dedication and commitment to canoeing has been second to none and was acknowledged in the 2009 New Year's Honours with an MBE for his services to kayaking.
