There is a great tradition of practical, comfortable nautical knitwear in the British Isles. This dates back to the days when families would hand-knit warm, protective garments from raw wool, such as the Guernsey sweater and Aran cable knit, for their loved ones working far out at sea. A little further afield, Nordic and Fair Isle knitting patterns were used to add a personal touch to rugged, hand-crafted garments. Taking this collective heritage as our inspiration, we've used traditional shapes and patterns and added our signature detailing to create original knitwear that works well in any modern wardrobe.
All Quba knitwear is produced using premium-quality yarn, sourced from a specific yarn mill chosen for its outstanding track record of environmental responsibility and sustainability. Having found the perfect yarn for each design, the garments are then knitted to patterns specially produced by our in-house design team, and finishing touches in the shape of signature buttons, tags, fastenings and appliquéd or embroidered logos are added carefully. Finally, each piece of knitwear is checked for quality before being packaged and sold.
Different yarn blends are chosen for different designs, though each yarn must also meet our exacting requirements in terms of softness, comfort and practicality. At Quba we think that the little details make all the difference; from leather zip-pulls and vintage-style appliquéd patches to horn or leather 'football' buttons, each piece of knitwear is enhanced by our signature detailing, which is designed in-house and sourced carefully.
