About Quba

Design

Design

In the early 1900s, British exploration missions - including those led by Scott and Shackleton - were supplied with clothing and equipment by traditional sailmaking businesses. The sailmakers' craftsmanship and skill, passed down through generations, was vital in supporting these pioneering explorers; inspired by this important nautical heritage, Quba jackets are designed with the ever‑relevant principles of comfort and performance in mind. The X10, Quba's iconic technical jacket, is built to withstand the elements, being fully waterproof with a cosy fleece lining; comfort is ensured by useful features such as hand gaiters, adjustable drawstrings and a roll-away hood. The X10 incorporates a number sequence in its design, with every sequence produced in limited batches only. This adds character to each jacket, though the X10 is also fully customisable if a truly unique garment is required.

Production

Production

The X10 must provide protection against rough weather and harsh conditions. It is therefore pieced together carefully, according to Quba (and customer) specifications, and all seams are taped throughout. Warm microfleece is added through the body and collar lining; practical features such as the roll-away hood, hand gaiters and drawstrings are added and tested. The finished jacket is quality-tested before it is finally packaged and ready for sale.

Materials

A serious performance jacket, the X10 is constructed from 100% waterproof nylon, with fully taped seams throughout. The body and collar are lined with soft anti-pill microfleece (360gm), which also features in the zipped hand-warmer pockets. Toggles and elasticated drawstrings are used to adjust the lightweight rip-stop hood and lower jacket hem, and the front zip is fully protected by a toughened Velcro-fastening flap. YKK zips are used throughout.
