Since teaming up with world record holding polar expedition leader Henry Cookson, we are proud to announce that a Quba Jacket has made it to the Last Degree of Latitude and the geographic North Pole. Cracking ice, arctic rubble fields and the threat of polar bears getting too close for comfort, did not prevent the team reaching the top of the planet. (April 2010)
Henry explains his drive to explore...
"It was, and always will be a privilege to cross thousands of
kilometres of the Antarctic in the knowledge that humans had
neither seen nor trodden on vast tranches of our route. Not a
privilege because we were the first, but a privilege due to being
graced with a feeling inside your very being, that precious few can
ever experience.
What drives me is a need to take in as many of these unique slivers
of the unknown as possible - I see it as a life race - surmounting
arduous and frustrating challenges but knowing that occasionally in
doing so, I am privileged to experience places that no one else has
before: it's this that is my primary motivator."
Since then, Henry's Quba customised collection has …
…crossed the barren sandy deserts of Namibia (inc. sand boarding
down vast dunes) (June 2011)
…explored islands so remote in Botswanas Okavango Delta they have
no name (July2011)
…climbed Kilimanjaro with children's charity Starlight as a
fundraising expedition (Feb 2010)
…raced across the Atlantic from Agadir to Barbados as part of the
Big Blue Atlantic Row team (Jan -Feb 2011)
In fact, they accompany him on all his major expeditions,
adventures & training trips and next year Henry plans to cross
Chile-Argentina-Brazil in a Coast2Coast Quad Bike Adventure.
