Congratulations to Fiona MacKay and her charity trek group who successfully climbed Kilimanjaro for the charity Sparks! Quba donated a customised holdall for the cause, which Fiona auctioned as a contribution towards her sponsorship total.
The charity Sparks raise money to fund high quality medical research into childhood diseases, in a bid to help all babies be born healthy and stay healthy. Fiona and her trek group have done a fantastic job raising money for this worthy cause and we at Quba would like to offer them our sincerest congratulations.
“It was a really hard challenge for me, as I suffered quite badly from Altitude sickness. However despite this & being a small group, we have managed to raise £39,824.93 for the charity Sparks, which is a huge achievement & we are all justly proud of this.”- Fiona MacKay.
Fiona is so dedicated to the cause that she is even partaking in the Paris Marathon with her friend on the 10th April to raise even more money for Sparks. To sponsor Fiona please click here. We wish them the best of luck.

Due to the success of our Customise Your Own service, we have expanded our UK production team. We are delighted to welcome aboard Carole, Gloria and Debbie (pictured above left) to the Sail Loft team. They will be working for us remotely from Tuskers in Plymouth; a company we’ve previously worked with in the production of our customised jackets and bags.
Our Customise Your Own service allows customers to personalise our iconic sailcloth jackets and bags. This extension of our UK production will enable us to expand the manufacturing, helping to cope with the increase in demand! To get designing your own Jacket or bag click here.
You should all now be receiving your Spring/Summer ’11 Logbooks. Here’s a sneak peak into the hard work that went into creating all the nautically inspired images. As you can see, the team worked very hard under very cold conditions to make sure all our images reflected the local nautical heritage in and around the Salcombe area, which provides the inspiration for both our sailcloth and clothing ranges. We would like to thank the team for all their hard work. We’re very pleased with how the images came out and hope you like them too!
Darrin Butterworth is our lucky customer who won our Scott’s centenary expedition parka competition!
“When I was a lad (a long time ago), I read "South With Scott" by Rear Admiral Teddy Evans. I always admired Captain Scott and in particular the self-sacrifice of Captain Titus Oates, who famously said, "I am just going outside and may be some time".
I was visiting my daughter in Leeds today, so I decided to have the attached picture taken of me wearing the Quba Scott's Parka stood by the plaque in Meanwood, which was placed in memory of Titus Oates, as he spent part of his life there.
It's a pleasure to wear such a quality jacket, especially because it was made by Quba in celebration of the centenary of Scott's expedition to the Antartic.” – Darrin Butterworth.
Congratulations Darrin, we hope you enjoy wearing your parka!
